Mark It As Done configured and launched a customized Shopify store to complement Gjusta Goods’ brick and mortar store located in Venice, CA featuring the same POS software used in their restaurants. Gjusta Goods, supplying the design element for the online store, wanted an experience matching the brand of their restaurants: straightforward and friendly with a dash of whimsy. Mark It As Done continues to support Gjusta Goods’ online store with maintenance and updates.

Client

In 2014, Shelley Kleyn Armistead brought all forms of design and product manufacturing in-house to create a more cohesive and distinct aesthetic for each of our sister restaurants. This aesthetic is articulated through the architecture, furniture, and homewares of each restaurant. Gjusta Goods was introduced as an opportunity to share the unique goods and wares with the local community in Venice Beach.

Challenge

Adding an online store to a brick and mortar store could be challenging as the underlying infrastructure has to support and integrate with the e-commerce solution. The solution also has to be easy to use for the store owner to keep the list of the available products and their info up to date.

Solution

The design is focused on the products and products only. From the top navigation to the list of categories, it is easy for visitors to find out what Gjsuta goods have to offer.

You notice the same amount of focus when you visit a group of the products or the product pages themselves. That being said, the use of vivid and minimal photos is also beneficial to compare the products and place an order.

Based on Shopify

Finding the best e-commerce solution varies from client to client, but for Gjusta Goods we couldn't think of a better solution than Shopify. We utilized the Shopify POS for the store as it's a natural addition to any Shopify online store.

Responsive Design

To get the most out of this practice, We also use a layering system with an icon or element that acts as a placeholder underneath the image.
